Volunteers picked up garbage and debris at Delta Park in North Portland on Sunday.
The city of Portland put out a call for help, and about a dozen volunteers from “Help a Brother Up” in Vancouver came out.
Volunteer Ronnie Harris said he was born and raised in Portland, and wanted to do his part to keep the city clean.
“The people who are living here have come out and helped us, because they do want it clean. Don’t you want your front yard clean?” Harris said.
Harris said he knows a lot of people complain about the trash in the city, but not enough people do anything to help.
He hopes more people will volunteer what they can.
The city and metro have tools to help you report problems with homeless camps or illegal dumping.
